A variety of treatment options with similar efficacy are available for the clinical management of depression, although a significant percentage of patients do not respond adequately. Given the multitude of options, shared decision-making (SDM) and person-centered care (PCC) are suitable approaches for treatment selection with patient involvement. The effectiveness of shared decision-making tools (SDMTs) in improving patient knowledge, adherence, and satisfaction has been demonstrated. However, to incorporate the best evidence, SDMTs must be updated and aligned with the latest clinical practice guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>To update and evaluate a web-based SDMT for patients with depression in primary care consultations, according to the latest clinical practice guidelines, and assess its acceptability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Methodology<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Subproject 1 aims to update a decision aid tool for depression treatment, based on Clinical Practice Guidelines. A systematic review of clinical practice guidelines will be conducted, an Expert Group will be formed, and an updated version of the tool will be developed based on identified needs. In Subproject 2, the acceptability of the tool will be evaluated in three primary care centers in Tenerife.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applicability<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>The SDMT will enable patients newly diagnosed with depression to understand and choose which treatment options may be most suitable for them.
