Objectives and Methodology:

(O1, O2) Analyze therapeutic adherence, polypharmacy with psychoactive drugs, and care trajectories of patients with depressive disorders and anxiety disorders within the National Health System. (O3) Estimate the impact on resource use and costs. (O4) Explore patient experiences regarding their care trajectory. Design: Multi-method study: (O1, O2) Systematic review and retrospective, longitudinal, multicentric cohort study with data extracted from databases; (O3) Scoping review and cost estimation; and (O4) Qualitative study. Participants: (O1, O2, O3, O4) Individuals diagnosed with depressive disorder or anxiety disorder treated with antidepressants and/or anxiolytics. Scope: (O1, O2, O3, O4) Primary care (PC) and specialized care (SC) of the Servicio Canario de la Salud. Sources of information: (O1, O2, O3) PC and SC medical records and prescription/dispensing pharmaceutical information systems; and (O4) Focus groups. Main outcome measures: (O1) Adherence and polypharmacy; (O2) Care trajectories; (O3) Direct healthcare costs per patient, estimated based on the use of healthcare resources, from the SNS perspective; and (O4) Patient experiences (Patient Journey Map). Analysis: (O1) Multilevel logistic regression models; (O2) Process mining; (O3) Cost analysis; and (O4) Framework analysis using human-centered design.
