  • Ovarian cancer is the ninth most common type of cancer among women worldwide and ranks ninth in cancer-related mortality. Among all gynecological cancers, it has the lowest survival rate, with an estimated five-year survival of only 40.9%.
  • About 25% of women with ovarian cancer exhibit resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy. Although most patients initially respond to first-line therapy, many experience recurrence and progressive resistance over time. This resistance can only be detected within six months after completing platinum treatment, which complicates disease management and significantly worsens the prognosis.
  • Available data support the good diagnostic performance of FT-Raman spectroscopy in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, highlighting it as a rapid technique.
  • The use of FT-Raman spectroscopy has the potential to be a significant advancement in detecting platinum resistance in women with ovarian cancer.
