Background:
Dyspareunia refers to genital pain experienced during or after sexual activity, and it predominantly affects women. It may stem from various health conditions (e.g., endometriosis, uterine fibroids, childbirth complications, menopause), though in many cases no physical cause is identified, suggesting a possible psychological origin. Dyspareunia has a significant impact on women’s sexuality and overall quality of life.
Objectives:
-
Conduct a follow-up evaluation of the women who participated in the previous project, using the same independent variables (PACIC, DCS, CPS) and dependent variables (pain, sexual function, anxiety, depression).
-
Analyze longitudinal relationships among these variables.
-
Explore the causes of any identified changes.
-
Develop an online psychoeducational resource for women with dyspareunia.
-
Explore the experiences of women with dyspareunia across different care pathways and health profiles.
Methodology:
-
Quantitative cross-sectional study.
-
Scoping review of the literature on information needs and treatment approaches for dyspareunia, followed by an iterative development process for the psychoeducational resource.
-
Semi-structured interviews with patients.
